Pharmacy eHIT Collaborative Highlights New Membership

WASHINGTON, DC – The Pharmacy e-Health Information Technology Collaborative (Collaborative) today announced two new members have joined the Collaborative’s mission. The primary work of the Collaborative is to ensure the meaningful use of standardized electronic health records (EHR) that support safe, efficient and effective medication use, continuity of care and provide access to the patient-care services of pharmacists with other members of the interdisciplinary patient care team.

The Collaborative’s new Associate Members include:

  • IQware Solutions
IQware delivers the only patented, DOD level secure medical information platforms available today. Its innovative IQware MTM / DSM system has comprehensive data management, mining and analysis capabilities. The system employs valuable time-saving, scheduling, communication, and billing features to all payers, so pharmacists can do what they do best: care for their patients. The IQware system is easily adaptable to changes in regulatory standards and pharmacy requirements. The centrally managed IQware system implements these changes, through rule alterations, without disruption or system reprogram. IQware MTM’s essential clinical tools – such as drug interaction analysis, allergy detection, disease state analysis management and drug utilization review – aid pharmacists in their service offerings. Using the data-mining capabilities, pharmacists can quickly identify and begin serving, eligible patients who would benefit from MTM and chronic disease management services. http://iqwaresolutions.com/
  • Outcomes
Outcomes Incorporated (Outcomes®) is the national leader in the design, delivery, and administration of Medication Therapy Management programs. Outcomes has built a nationwide network of Personal Pharmacists that deliver MTM services to covered members. The company’s service line benefits health care purchasers by delivering a cost effective approach to advancing patient care and controlling utilization through the provision of patient-friendly, face-to-face personal pharmacist services. www.getoutcomes.com.

Formed in the fall of 2010, the Collaborative is focused on improving patient care quality and outcomes, through the integration of pharmacists’ patient care services into the national health information technology (HIT) infrastructure. The group is pursuing EHR standards that effectively support the delivery, documentation of and billing for pharmacist-provided patient care services across all care settings. The Collaborative influences HIT policy through unified, consistent communications to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and other HIT organizations about pharmacist-provided patient care services and pharmacists’ contributions to the CMS and ONC defined meaningful use of EHR.
